Distinguish between LAN and WAN.

LAN	WAN
(i) LAN stands for Local Area Network.	(i) WAN stands for Wide Area Network.
(ii) LAN is a computer network covering a small geographic area, link a home, office, schools, or group of buildings.	(ii) WAN is a computer network that covers a broad area.
(iii) LAN has high speed (up to 1000 mbps).	(iii) WAN has less speed (up to 150 mbps).
(iv) The LAN is build using the layer 2 devices like switches, bridges and layer 1 devices like hubs.	(iv) The WAN is build using the layers 3 devices Router and Multi layer switches.
(v) LAN is owned, controlled and managed by a single person or organization.	(v) WAN’s are not owned by any one organization but rather exist under distributed ownership.
(vi) LAN is easier to maintain at relatively low costs.	(vi) Maintaining WAN is difficult because of its wider geographical coverage and higher maintenance costs.
(vii) LAN experiences fewer data transmission errors.	(vii) WAN experiences more data transmission errors.
(viii) LANs have a high data transfer rate.	(viii) WANs have a lower data transfer rate compared to LANs.
(ix) High bandwidth is available for transmission.	(ix) Low bandwidth is available for transmission.
