Statistics: Statistics is a branch of mathematical dealing with the collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
 Characteristics of statistics: Number based information requires some characteristics for the status of statistics. There are given below:
(i)                 Statistics are aggregate of interrelated information: Individual information can’t be statistics. Rather statistics is the aggregate and interrelated collection of information.
(ii)               Statistics are numerically expressed: If information tends to be a statistics, it must be expressed in number.
(iii)             Statistics are the resultant of interrelated investigation: The data of statistics are the resultant of the pre-fixed investigation.
(iv)              Statistics are affected by various causes: Statistics is not be outcome of a single cause it is rather influenced by various causes.

(v)                Statistics are comparable and homogenous: It is necessary for the data of statistics to be homogenous and comparable.
