Give two examples of simplex, half-duplex and full-duplex transmission.

Simplex:  The type of transmission mode where data can be send from sender to receiver is called simplex transmission mode.

In simplex mode, the communication is unidirectional as on a one way-street. The simplex mode can to send data in one direction.

Fig: Simplex Transmission mode.

                                                         Fig: Simplex Transmission mode.
Example: TV broadcast, Radio etc.

Half-Duplex:  The type of transmission where each station can both send and receive data but not at the same time is called half-duplex transmission mode.
In half-duplex transmission mode, one device is sending the other device can only receive it and vice-versa. This mode is used where there is no need for communication in both directions at the same time, the entire capacity of the channel can be utilized for each direction.

Fig: Half-duplex Transmission mode.

 Example: Walki-talki, Wireless Communication.

Full-Duplex: The type of transmission mode where data can be transmitted from two devices at the same time is called full-duplex transmission mode.
In full-duplex transmission mode, the communication is both directions is required all the time. The capacity of the channel must be divided between the two directions.

Example: Telephone, Mobile phone etc.
