What do you mean by adaptation in word? Explain its importance.

Adaptation: Adaptation is the strategy, which is applied to fit every side of the sender’s communication to the intended recipients.
Clear writing begins with adapting the message to the contexts of the readers/receivers.
Importance: It is important to adapt the method in which you communicate depending on the specific needs of the service user. If the service user is deaf for example you might adapt your method of communicating by involving elements of sign language (if you know arty) or simply by emphasizing your gestures and facial expressions. If the service user was a child you could use something that is important to them, for example a teddy bear to convey your message. Sometimes you may have to adapt your conversation to involve an interpreter. The list goes on...
It is important to adapt the way that you communicate for the following reasons:
(i) to prevent misunderstandings
(ii) to avoid discrimination (if the service user feels that you are not communicating in a way that suits their needs they may feel discriminated against).
(iii) to put the service user at ease
(iv) to empower the service user (giving them as much control over their life as possible by using communication that allows them to be involved in every aspect of their care; if they understand their care plan they will be able to influence it, rather than being left in the dark or having it forced upon them).
(v) to allow the service user to voice concerns or ask questions
(vi) to build up a relationship with the service user so that they can trust you with their physical, mental or emotional problems / issues.

(vii) to ensure that you can deliver the best individualized care possible; if you and the service user do not understand each other because of a lack of effective communication, it will be difficult to give care that meets all of their Specific and requested needs, in a way that they are comfortable with.
